PRESS BOOK COMPETITION RULES

1.    The size of the book is optional.  Emblem of the American Legion or other organization may be on the cover (NOTHING ELSE).  The size of the sheets is optional.

2.    The fly leaf (cover page) must contain:

a.     Post name and number (District, other, etc.)

b.     Number of members and membership grouping (see below)

c.     Name and address of person submitting

d.     Number of articles

e.     Number of pictures

f.           Approximate number of inches of articles (measure from the top to the bottom of article.  If 2 column, number will be (x) times 2 or 3, etc.)

3.    The articles must follow in DATE SEQUENCE and the NEATNESS of the arrangement of the articles will be considered in judging.

4.    NAME and DATE OF PAPER must be above each article, both neatly cut.  UNDERLINE American Legion name in red or black ink.

5.    Books MUST contain only news clippings and pictures.  NO glossy photographs, programs or other souvenirs.  Clippings to be from any newspaper or publication, daily, weekly or monthly, relating to your Post, District and organization as to activities and programs hold or participated in.

ALL CLIPPINGS MUST BE ORIGINALS - NO COPIES

6.    Contents in books begin with July I (starting with convention) and going through June 30th of the year submitted.

7.    It is the responsibility of the person submitting a Press Book to MAIL or BRING the book to the Trophy Chairman.  They are turned in to the FALPA registration BY 10 A.M., FRIDAY of the Annual Department Convention, TO THE SECRETARY OR TROPHY CHAIRMAN.

S.    By other organizations eligible, we mean the Auxiliary, Juniors, 40/8, 20/4, LaFemmes and S.A.L., whose members belong to the Florida American Legion Press Association.

 

ALL PERSONS ENTERING PRESS BOOKS IN COMPETITION MUST BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF THE FLORIDA AMERICAN LEGION PRESS ASSOCIATION.

1st place award to Post with membership between 201-500

1st place award to Post with membership

1st place award to District

1st place award to other organizations
